when we first install windows seven, the default is ata controller. but sata controller still does not work if still detected ata drive on device manager. check through softwares Everest. though AHCI is active. so that the drive was detected sata drives then we have to install a new driver called the Intel matrix storage. let you see the controller drivers on your pc or laptop, there are no drivers iastor.sys not? well it means your drive recognized by windows as a drive ata. please first download intel matrix storage drivers.
